Guidance on right to work documents

RIGHT TO WORK IN THE UK - DOCUMENTATION

UNDER THE IMMIGRATION, ASYLUM AND NATIONALITY ACT 2006, WE ARE REQUIRED TO CHECK YOUR ELIGIBILITY TO WORK IN THE UK BEFORE YOU START WORK. WE ARE THEREFORE ASKING ALL ARTISTES TO BRING ORIGINAL DOCUMENTS PROVING THEIR RIGHT TO WORK TO THE INTERVIEW AND A COPY WILL BE TAKEN.

IF YOU ARE SUCCESSFUL AT INTERVIEW, THIS DOCUMENTATION WILL BE STORED SECURELY ON YOUR PERSONAL FILE. IF YOU ARE NOT SUCCESSFUL, THE DOCUMENTATION WILL BE NOT BE RETAINED BY THE AGENCY.

IF YOU FORGET TO BRING THIS DOCUMENTATION YOU WILL BE ASKED TO BRING THE ORIGINAL DOCUMENTATION TO US BEFORE WE CAN SEEK ANY WORK ON YOUR BEHALF.

ELIGIBILITY TO WORK IN THE UNITED KINGDOM

FOR EVIDENCE OF RIGHT TO WORK IN THE UK, SO THAT WE MAY TAKE A COPY FOR OUR RECORDS, WE WILL REQUIRE YOU TO PROVIDE US WITH ORIGINAL (NOT PHOTOCOPIED) VERSIONS OF EITHER ONE OF THE DOCUMENTS AS DETAILED WITHIN LIST A OR DOCUMENTS FROM LIST B:

LIST A – DOCUMENTS WHICH SHOW AN ONGOING RIGHT TO WORK IN THE UK              

 ANY ONE OF THE FOLLOWING ORIGINAL DOCUMENTS DESCRIBED BELOW:

  1. A PASSPORT SHOWING THE HOLDER IS A BRITISH CITIZEN OR A CITIZEN OF THE UK AND COLONIES HAVING THE RIGHT OF ABODE IN THE UK.

  2. A PASSPORT OR NATIONAL IDENTITY CARD SHOWING THE HOLDER IS A NATIONAL OF A EUROPEAN ECONOMIC AREA COUNTRY OR SWITZERLAND

  3. A REGISTRATION CERTIFICATE OR DOCUMENT CERTIFYING PERMANENT RESIDENCE ISSUED BY THE HOME OFFICE TO A NATIONAL OF A EEA COUNTRY OR SWITZERLAND

  4. A PERMANENT RESIDENCE CARD ISSUED TO THE FAMILY MEMBER OF A NATIONAL OF A EEA COUNTRY OR SWITZERLAND. WE RESERVE THE RIGHT TO ASK FOR PROOF OF DOCUMENTS AS EVIDENCE TO SHOW THE EEA NATIONAL IN QUESTION IS LAWFULLY RESIDING IN THE UK FOR YOU AS A FAMILY MEMBER TO HAVE AND MAINTAIN THESE RIGHTS.

  5. A CURRENT BIOMETRIX IMMIGRATION DOCUMENT (BIOMETRIC RESIDENCE PERMIT) ISSUED BY THE HOME OFFICE TO THE HOLDER INDICATING THAT THE PERSON NAMES IS ALLOWED TO STAY INDEFINITELY IN THE UK OR HAS NO TIME LIMIT ON THEIR STAY IN THE UK.

  6. A CURRENT PASSPORT ENDORSED TO SHOW THAT THE HOLDER IS EXEMPT FROM IMMIGRATION CONTROL, IS ALLOWED TO STAY INDEFINITELY IN THE COUNTRY, HAS THE RIGHT OF ABODE IN THE UK OR HAS NO TIME LIMIT ON THEIR STAY IN THE UK.

  7. A CURRENT IMMIGRATION STATUS DOCUMENT TO THE HOLDER WITH AN ENDORSEMENT INDICATING THAT THE NAMED PERSON IS ALLOWED TO STAY INDEFINITELY IN THE UK OR HAS NO TIME LIMIT ON THEIR STAY IN THE UK, TOGETHER WITH AN OFFICIAL DOCUMENT GIVING THE PERSON’S PERMANENT NATIONAL INSURANCE NUMBER AND THEIR NAME ISSUED BY A GOVERNMENT AGENCY OR A PREVIOUS EMPLOYER.

  8. A FULL BIRTH OR ADOPTION CERTIFICATE ISSUED IN THE CHANNEL ISLANDS, THE ISLE OF MAN OR IRELAND, TOGETHER WITH AN OFFICIAL DOCUMENT GIVING THE PERSON’S PERMANENT NATIONAL INSURANCE NUMBER AND THEIR NAME ISSUED BY A GOVERNMENT AGENCY OR A PREVIOUS EMPLOYER.

  9. A CERTIFICATE OF REGISTRATION OR NATURALISATION AS A BRITISH CITIZEN, TOGETHER WITH AN OFFICIAL DOCUMENT GIVING THE PERSON’S PERMANENT NATIONAL INSURANCE NUMBER AND THEIR NAME ISSUED BY A GOVERNMENT AGENCY OR A PREVIOUS EMPLOYER.

  10. A CURRENT RESIDENCE CARD (INCLUDING AN ACCESSION RESIDENCE CARD OR A DERIVATIVE RESIDENCE CARD) ISSUED BY THE HOME OFFICE TO A NON EEA NATIONAL WHICH IS A FAMILY MEMBER OF A EEA COUNTRY OR SWITZERLAND OR WHO HAS A DERIVATIVE RIGHT OF RESIDENCE, PLEASE NOTE THAT IF YOU ARE PROVIDING THIS DOCUMENT, WE RESERVE THE RIGHT TO REQUEST PROOF OF EVIDENCE THAT THE NATIONAL IN QUESTION IS LAWFULLY RESIDING IN THE UK FOR YOU AS A FAMILY MEMBER TO HAVE AND MAINTAIN THESE RIGHTS.

LIST B – DOCUMENTS WHICH SHOW A RIGHT TO WORK FOR UP TO 12 MONTHS

ANY ONE OR COMBINATION OF THE FOLLOWING ORIGINAL DOCUMENTS:  

  1. A CURRENT PASSPORT ENDORSED TO SHOW THE HOLDER IS ALLOWED TO STAY IN THE UK AND IS CURRENTLY ALLOWED TO DO THE TYPE OF WORK IN QUESTION. THIS SHOULD ALSO CONFIRM HOW MANY HOURS YOU HAVE BEEN PERMITTED TO WORK.

  2. A CURRENT BIOMETRIC IMMIGRATION DOCUMENT (BIOMETRIC RESIDENCE PERMIT) ISSUED BY THE HOME OFFICE TO YOU WHICH STATES THAT YOU (THE PERSON NAMED IN THE PERMIT) CAN STAY IN THE UK AND YOU ARE ALLOWED TO DO THE TYPE OF WORK WE ARE OFFERING.

  3. A CURRENT IMMIGRATION STATUS DOCUMENT CONTAINING A PHOTOGRAPH ISSUED BY THE HOMES OFFICE TO THE HOLDER WITH A VALID ENDORSEMENT INDICATING THAT THE NAMED PERSON MAY STAY IN THE UK AND IS ALLOWED TO DO THE TYPE OF WORK IN QUESTION, TOGETHER WITH AN OFFICIAL DOCUMENT GIVING THE PERSON’S PERMANENT NATIONAL INSURANCE NUMBER AND THEIR NAME ISSUED BY A GOVERNMENT AGENCY OR A PREVIOUS EMPLOYER.

  4. A CERTIFICATE OF APPLICATION WHICH IS LESS THAN 6 MONTHS OLD ISSUED BY THE HOME OFFICE TO OR FOR A FAMILY MEMBER OF A NATIONAL OF AN EEA COUNTRY OR SWITZERLAND STATING THAT THE HOLDER IS ALLOWED TO TAKE EMPLOYMENT TOGETHER WITH A POSITIVE VERIFICATION NOTICE FROM THE HOME OFFICE’S EMPLOYER CHECKING SERVICE

  5. AN APPLICATION REGISTRATION CARD (ARC) ISSUED BY THE HOME OFFICE STATING THAT YOU ARE ‘ALLOWED TO WORK’ OR ‘EMPLOYMENT PERMITTED’ TOGETHER WITH A POSITIVE VERIFICATION LETTER FROM THE HOME OFFICE’S EMPLOYMENT CHECKING SERVICE

  6. A POSITIVE VERIFICATION NOTICE ISSUED BY THE HOME OFFICE EMPLOYER CHECKING SERVICE TO THE EMPLOYER OR PROSPECTIVE EMPLOYER WHICH INDICATES THAT THE NAMED PERSON MAY STAY IN THE UK AND IS PERMITTED TO DO THE WORK IN QUESTION.

REVIEW OF RIGHT TO WORK IN THE UK DOCUMENTATION (LIST B)

PLEASE NOTE THAT IF YOU ARE SUCCESSFUL AND OFFERED EMPLOYMENT HAVING PROVIDED PROOF OF YOUR RIGHT TO WORK IN THE UK DOCUMENTATION UNDER LIST B, WE ARE REQUIRED TO CARRY OUT A FOLLOW UP CHECK WHEN THE DOCUMENTS EXPIRE.
